Exercise of the Week
Today’s exercise is the lateral band walk aka crabwalk aka hip abd walk, etc. The main muscle groups challenged with this exercise are the glute med, and hip lateral rotators.
I chose this exercise because it is so versatile. I use this exercise with hip patients, knee patients, ankle patients, low back patients. Just about everyone. It is great for someone with poor hip abduction control, and hip medial rotation control. Need a little peroneal activity? Throw it around the feet. Need to have more adjustable tension? Use a crossover version with tubing.
